PhD Open Day at VŠE

Considering a PhD? Come and hear from those who live it

Are you thinking about pursuing a PhD at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) and would like to know what it really involves? PhD Open Day is a great opportunity to learn how doctoral studies work in practice – from study requirements and choosing a research topic to the admissions process.

You will gain first-hand information, take part in an open discussion, and have plenty of space to ask all the questions you may already be thinking about. This event serves as the central, university-wide PhD Open Day.

The event will take place on-site at the Žižkov Campus in the Rector’s Meeting Room, New Building, Room NB169, with the option to join online via MS Teams. Registered participants who choose the online option will receive the MS Teams link by email in advance of the event.

Participation in the PhD Open Day is only possible after prior registration, which is required for both on-site and online attendance. Registration allows us to organise the event smoothly and ensure that all participants receive the necessary information in advance.

15:30–16:15 | Doctoral Studies at VŠE – What to Expect (presented by Doctoral Hub Office)

An introductory presentation covering:

The structure and requirements of doctoral studies
How to choose a research topic and supervisor
The admission procedure
How to balance research, teaching, and other academic activities

16:15–17:00 | Discussion with PhD Candidates

Online & Room NB169 (Žižkov Campus, New Building)

A discussion with two current PhD candidates who will share:

Their personal experiences of doctoral studies
Challenges and rewards of doing a PhD
What a PhD means to them and how it shapes their future

The discussion will also be attended by the Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies, Prof. Martin Lukeš. There will be time for audience questions.
